Senior Safety thanks
I want to thank all of the participants who made our first annual Senior Safety Day a huge success.
To the speakers — David McGinnis and Mike Romano from USPS, Lynn from BB&T, Shirley from Blue Ridge Medical Center, Jennifer Auger from Virginia TRIAD and attorney Daniel Rutherford — thank you for providing very important information.
To the entertainers — Becky Adcock, the Moyer Family, James Harlow and Gracie Harris — you brought much pleasure to the day. Thanks to Lovingston Physical Therapy and McDonalds of Lovingston for helping make this day possible. For the contributors of food, money and labor, a big thank you. I couldn’t have done it without you!
Many of the seniors personally expressed their gratitude for a day of information and enjoyment. All left with smiles on their faces and that should make all of us smile!

Successful food drive
More than 400 pounds of non-perishable food was collected by the Rockfish Valley Ruritan Club during the Oct. 24 AARP/Ruritan Food Drive. The majority of the food was given to the Nelson Food Pantry, and some was delivered to the food pantry at Hebron Baptist Church.
The Rockfish Valley Ruritan Club would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that made a donation to the food drive. Special thanks goes to Food Lion in Lovingston, Joe Lee’s Blue Ridge Grocery in Nellysford and Afton Service Center in Afton for allowing us to place containers in their businesses.
Due to the success of this drive and the need in our community, the Rockfish Valley Ruritan Club will be holding food drives quarterly. Our next drive will be in January.
