Thousands of CVEC customers lose power

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

About 11,000 Central Virginia Electric Cooperative customers lost power this morning when a transmission line failed that supplies multiple CVEC substations, an official said.

The outage occurred just before 11 a.m. and has affected the Interstate 64 Corridor from Keswick to Shannon Hill, according to company spokesman Greg Kelly. The cooperative had reported no problems before the line failed this morning.

Central Virginia Electric Cooperative is a distribution electric cooperative and receives transmission services (delivery of power to the substation) from another utility. CVEC is awaiting the restoration of transmission services.
