The Nelson County Planning Commission recommended approval at its Feb. 24 meeting of a special use permit for a Nelson County couple to build a public garage where automobiles would be stored on U.S. 29 in Arrington.
The permit was requested by Helen Park and her husband, David. The property for the proposed building is at the corner of U.S. 29 and Morse Lane in Arrington.
“We’re in the long-term car storage business,” David said. “We don’t work on cars and we don’t keep them outside.”
No one spoke at the public hearing.
Commissioners voted 4-0 to recommend approval of the permit, with Allen Hale, the commission liaison to the Nelson County Board of Supervisors, abstaining because his survey company, Old Dominion Map Co., prepared the site plan for the project.
The Nelson County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to hold a public hearing on the special use permit this week.
