Robert Ken Brent Jr.
Robert Kent Brent Jr., 87, died Nov. 22 at Lynchburg General Hospital in Lynchburg. He was the husband of the late Carolyn Teaford Alphin Brent.
Born July 21, 1924, in Nelson County, he was the only child of the late Robert Kent Brent and Eliza Carter Brent. He was a member of Amherst Baptist Church and was a member of the Amherst County Heritage Book Committee.
He is survived by three daughters, Robin Brent Pipkins and her husband, John, of Jacksonville, Fla., Alice Brent of Norfolk, and Paula Brent of Lynchburg; sister-in-law, Jake Alphin Motley of Amherst; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and his favorite friend and companion, Cooper.
He was preceded in death by brother-in-law William L. Alphin and brother-in-law William H. Motley.
A funeral service was conducted Nov. 26 at Amherst Baptist Church with the Rev. David Clay and the Rev. John W. Gordon Jr. officiating.

Earnest Jerry Ramsey
Earnest Jerry Ramsey, 75, of Lovingston, died Nov. 21 at his residence.
He was born Nov. 28, 1935, a son of the late George W. Ramsey and Nora Bryant Ramsey.
Earnest was a retired Vietnam Army veteran and a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church, in Lovingston.
He is survived by his wife, Lillian Harris Ramsey; two daughters, Brenda E. Bowling of Fredericksburg, and Rebecca G. Gray of Lovingston; four grandchildren, Matthew and Danielle Kennedy, Amber Fitzgerald and Courtney Blackwell; and two great-grandchildren, Kolton Kennedy and Kelsey Kennedy.
A funeral service was held Nov. 25 at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with the Rev. Tim Kiser officiating.
Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery, in Lovingston.
The family received friends Nov. 23 at the funeral home.

Kathleen Mae Thompson
Kathleen Mae Thompson, 90, of Wild Cherry Lane, Lovingston, died Nov. 27 at her residence. Born Dec. 22, 1920 in Nelson County, she was a daughter of the late Ellis Andrew Kidd and Rena Simpson Kidd. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Austin Thompson; three brothers, Lewis, Billy and Robert Lee Kidd; three sisters, Hazel Huffman, Christine Sites and Ruby Robinson; and a granddaughter, Donna Truslow.
Kathleen was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston, and had retired from Uniroyal of Scottsville with 30 years of service.
She is survived by her daughters, Doris T. Mohler (Lewis) and Joyce T. Truslow (Carroll), both of Lovingston; one brother, Allen Kidd of Nellysford; Shirley Jean Huffman of Arrington; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston, with pastor A.C. Smith and Pastor David Christian officiating. Interment followed in Ridgecrest Church Cemetery.
The family received friends at the funeral home and all other times at the residence.
