Earl David Giles
Deacon Earl David Giles, 81, of Roseland, was called from labor to reward Sept. 19. He was born July 16, 1930, a son of the late Thomas and Lillie Brady Giles. He was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church where he served faithfully as chairman of the deacon board and sunday school superintendent. Along with his love for the Lord, he possessed a great love for baseball.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Earl David Giles Jr.; six brothers; and five sisters.
Earl leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Katie H. Giles; a daughter, Margaret G. Morse (David); three granddaughters, Crystal, Diamond and Star, all of Arrington; a son, Wayne Allen (Malie); two grandchildren of Amherst; one brother, Garfield Giles, Roseland; three sisters, Area Epps, Baltimore, Md., Clora Brown, Roseland, and Anna Rose, Arrington; special friends, James Hagar Sr. and Frank Hagar; and many nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held Sept. 23 at Byrum-Parr Funeral Home with Pastor Harold L. Walker officiating. Interment was held in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ida Mae Wright Jones
Ida Mae Wright Jones, 63, of Waynesboro, died Sept. 26 in Charlottesville.
Born April 2, 1948, she was a daughter of the late Tuley Alton Wright and Ida Bell Martin Wright.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Warren R. Jones; and a sister, Mary Louise Wright.
Ida was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church, in Lovingston, and was a telemarketer for Cooper and Secrist Associates in Charlottesville.
She is survived by one daughter, Teresa Sites and husband, Patrick Yowell, of Earlysville; one son, William (Billy) Campbell Jr. and wife, Vickie, of Arrington; two brothers, Thomas Wright Sr. and wife, Delma Lee, of Chesapeake, and Samuel Lee Wright and wife, Sue, of Virginia Beach; one sister, Patty Bell Gore of Charlottesville; four grandchildren, Patrick Yowell II, Jordan Yowell, Brandy Campbell and Destiny Campbell; two nieces, Cheri Wolbig of Chesapeake, and Jennifer Jones of Charlottesville; two nephews, James Wright of Chesapeake, and Samuel (Sam) Wright Jr. of Arrington; and special friends, Betty Yowell and Willie Eubank.
The family received friends Oct. 1 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials be made in Ida’s memory to Legacy Hospice, 675 Peter Jefferson Parkway, Suite 180, Charlottesville, VA 22911.

Arthur E. Seibold
Arthur E. Seibold, 94, of Williamstown community, Nelson County, died Sept. 27 at Lovingston Health Care Center. Born Sept. 7, 1917 in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a son of the late Herman R. Seibold and Margaret L. Kane. Besides his parents, his wife, Mildred, preceded him in death in 2002.
He was a retired iron worker from Local 580 Iron Workers of New York City and a World War II Navy Coast Guard veteran.
He is survived by his loyal and dedicated companion, Vivian Holmes Seibold; his son, David R. Seibold and wife, Karen Myers, of Santa Barbara, Calif.; his daughters, Katherine Elizabeth Seibold of Cauldwell, Idaho, and Margaret “Peggy” Heuu of Park Ridge, Ill.; his stepdaughter, Jackie Collins of Forrest; two stepsons, Ronald Collins of Lovingston, and Cecil Collins of Piney River; and granddaughters, Kristen Harkins and husband, Kevin, and Nicole and Tiffany Rodriguez.
A funeral service was held at Clifford Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Fitzgerald officiating, with interment in the Amherst Cemetery.

Hazel Burks Tyree
Hazel Burks Tyree, 74, of Gladstone, died Sept. 28 in Fairmont Crossing. She was the wife of the late Luther Cleveland Tyree Jr.
Born in Buckingham County, on Feb. 18, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Albert C. Burks and Elsie Bryant Burks McCormick.
Hazel was a member of Maple Grove Baptist Church and retired from Old Dominion Box Company.
She is survived by three sisters, Linda B. Totty of Appomattox, Gertrude B. Eagle of Lynchburg, and Gloria B. McCormick and her husband, Frank, of Gladstone; two brothers, James B. Burks and his wife, Cecil Faye, and Bernard L. Burks, all of Gladstone; two sisters-in-law, Gladys T. Burley and her husband, Ross, and Jean T. Burley Mauro and her husband, George, all of Amherst; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty B. McCready; and two brothers, Melvin A. Burks and Al G. Burks.
A funeral service was held Oct. 1 at Robinson Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Phillips. Burial followed in Amherst Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home Sept. 30.
